| Coaches
and exercise physiologists agree that even-pace
is the best way to achieve optimum performace
in distance running. It's well known that
going too quickly in the early stages of a
run can cause severe difficulties in the later
stages. In perfect conditions on a dead flat
course, even-pace would give you a good performance.
However life is never perfect and neither
are races! The following pace chart should
be used as a guide - make allowances for hills
(up and down), headwinds and tailwinds, twists
and turns, muddy or dry underfoot etc.
Good luck and may all
your races be good ones!
